Construction of a system for wastewater collection & treatment (Implementation Phase)

The project focuses on five communes and towns located in the districts of Di An. Thuan An and Tan Uyen in Binh Duong province in South East Vietnam near Ho Chi Minh City. The canals and rivers in the project area contain a high mixture of chemical and biological pollutants because untreated waste water is being dumped in these water sources. The implication of deficient adequate sanitation is that water borne diseases are prevalent and have serious consequences for the general health of the population. Currently there is no wastewater treatment plant or collection network.The project is defined as the development design financing procurement and construction and subsequent operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment system with a capacity of 15,000 m3/day including new tertiary (for approximately 37,500 household connections) secondary and primary collection networks to wastewater treatment plant.The project will contribute to enhance the Di An regions environmental conditions especially the water environment and subsequently to improve the living and health conditions to reduce water-borne infections and to support the (socio) economic development of Binh Duong Province.
