Located at the bifurcation of several rivers, the city of Nyaungdone is prone to flooding. In addition, bank erosion is threatening two nearby bridges (Bomvathun bridge and Ayeyarwady bridge). Given the river dynamics, it is uncertain whether the measures taken by the local government to stabilise the bridges and protect the city will suffice in the long term. This project finances studies that will assess the sustainability of the current structures, provide a thorough hydraulic and morphological analysis and help policy making and planning to allow for additional measures. RVO works closely together with the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems (DWIR) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.Feasibility Study
