Construction of a new regional hospital and strengthening of the health system in Kayes (Additional Consultant Hospitals)

Kayes is a city in West-Mali, a 10-hour drive from the capital Bamako. For the citizens of Kayes, the closest hospital offering specialisations such as traumatology is also located in Bamako. The Malian Ministry of Health has the ambition to build a new tertiary referral hospital in the periphery of the city of Kayes, with a complete set of tertiary care services. RVO commissioned the studies needed to carefully examine all options for this new hospital and the rehabilitation of the existing hospital in the city centre, which offers primary health care. The studies are conducted by A.M.P.C. Associated Medical Project Consultants B.V. and will also address the situation with respect to hygiene, maintenance of equipment, training of personnel and energy and water infrastructure for both the new and existing hospitals.Technical Assistance
