Kisumu, Neyri an Meru Water Supply

This D2B project consists of three water supply & sanitation projects in Kisumu, Meru and Nyeri in Kenya. This project is done in collaboration with the Kenya Pooled Water Fund (KPWF). The KPWF is funded by KIFFWA ( Kenya Innovative Finance Facility for Water) which was initiated with funds from the Netherlands embassy in Kenya and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of the KPWF is to develop and finance bankable proposals for water utilities in Kenya (WSPs). This is done by combining donor guarantees and local capital markets (bonds issuance) to on-lend long term to the WSP’s at affordable rates. Under D2B the detailed design, Environmental Social Impact Assessment and tender documents are developed. The competent authorities in this project are: Meru Water and Sewerage Company (MEWASS), Nyeri Water and Sewerage Company (NYEWASCO) and Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company (KIWASCO). The studies for this project are done by three different Kenyan Consultants.
