English & School Education: English Connects

English Connects is one of the Global Programmes through which the British Council delivers its grant-funded activity. The primary focus of this Global Programme is ODA eligible activity and outcomes. English Connects provides professional development opportunities for a global community of English language teaching professionals and practitioners to contribute to education systems that support inclusive, quality teaching, learning and assessment of English to ultimately improve English language skills around the world. We bring together teachers and teacher educators of English worldwide through a global technology-enabled programme delivered by our TeachingEnglish platforms and collaborators. English Connects provides professional development opportunities, practical resources, peer support, professional agency with a range of perspectives and UK expertise to an online community of English language teaching practitioners globally. It helps them to take charge of their own learning, build professional networks and grow their careers. It also provides a unique evidence base to understand challenges and trends in English language teaching worldwide.
