The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation - Minciencias has been a key in-country partner under the Newton-Caldas Fund since it started in Colombia in 2014. During the last four years, the main focus of work has been their Colombia Bio strategic project which seeks to promote knowledge, conservation, management and sustainable use of biodiversity through programmes and projects between Colombia and the United Kingdom that favour the sustainable and socially inclusive development of Colombia's bio-economy. This year, two programmes are being delivered: Institutional Links (joint research projects) and Professional Development & Engagement with the Useful Plants and Fungi of Colombia project.
