Ta’zeez (meaning ‘strengthening’ in Arabic) provides independent third party monitoring of Department for International Development's (DFID's) programme in Yemen and is managed by British Council in partnership with Interaction In Development, a Yemeni research and development consultancy, and ITAD Ltd, a UK consultancy specialising in monitoring and evaluation. Ta’zeez provides verification in the field of humanitarian aid results reported to DFID by their cooperating partners. This provides independent assurance of value for money and accountability for the UK government, tax payers and stakeholders that DFID’s development investment reaches intended beneficiaries and is used to best effect. It also provides information from project beneficiaries which feeds into DFID programme design and monitoring evaluation. This was a three-year project extended to four years.
