Fleming Fund Grant - Anti Microbial Resistance (AMR)

The Fleming Fund is a UK Government’s investment into improving laboratory capacity for diagnosis and surveillance of anti-microbial resistance (AMR) in low-income countries. It supports the implementation of AMR National Action Plans by making investments in: building laboratory capacity; collecting drug resistance data; enabling the sharing of drug resistance data locally, regionally and internationally; collating and analysing data on the sale and use of antimicrobials medicines, particularly antibiotics; advocating the application of these data to promote the rational use of antimicrobials for human health, animal health and agriculture; and shaping a sustainable system for AMR surveillance and data sharing. Within a big programme funded by the Department of Health and managed by Mott MacDonald Limited, the OU will create leverage its expertise in networked organisational development and technology enhanced learning (including distance learning) to create learning pathways and products for health workers and other professionals around Anti-Microbial Resistance in the Grant's target countries.
