Women and girls in the project region in Ethiopia have been victimized by gender based violence (GBV). Street children, mentally ill mothers, and even pregnant mothers have experienced GBV related challenges; the fighting has left the community in fear of lack of security & theft Lack of access to public services, including health facilities, puts women and girls at risk, and psychological trauma has become common to victimized community members and has resulted in a breakdown of their social norms. An overall objective of this project is to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable women, girls, boys and men through increasing awareness of GBV and protection activities for IDPs and returnees. Through this project, WHH and the local partner provide emergency assistance to most vulnerable IDP women, men, boys and girls based on the urgent needs identified. The main activities include the distribution of dignity kits; and enhancing the skills of service providers to mainstream protection to their responses.
