2 native species of Uganda (Yushania alpina and Oxytenanthera abyssinica), 1 native species (Yushania alpina) and 1 introduced species (Dendrocalamus asper) of Kenya were tested for their physical, mechanical, chemical and anatomical fibre properties to determine their suitability for different types of products. The tests will be conducted at International Center for Bamboo and Rattan, China in collaboration with Nanjing Forestry University - which has a highly modern test equipment. Four bamboo specimens (36 pieces’ each) of three species (Yushania alpina, Oxytenanthera abyssinica and Dendrocalamus asper) were collected from Kenya and Uganda from the most representative bamboo producing areas and the samples were delivered to ICBR. Based on the testing, a report on the physical, mechanical, chemical and anatomical property were published. The report can be found at: https://resource.inbar.int/download/showdownload.php?lang=cn&id=168016
