MPact Global Action for Gay Men’s Health and Rights was founded in 2006 as The Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF) by an international group of activists who were concerned about the disproportionate HIV burden being shouldered by gay and bisexual men. Our key actions include: - advise, monitor, watchdog, and raise issues about the implementation of MSM and key population action plans, grants and programs, and issues raised by communities and supported with evidence and information gathered under this project. - be in touch with USAID/PEPFAR health officers for respective BTG region/countries, Global Fund portfolio managers, and PEPFAR country teams for all targeted countries, nationally and at the secretariat level, and with other key stakeholders including UNAIDS country offices. - communicate regularly with the Global Fund Board and Secretariat, as well as with other bodies if necessary (UNAIDS, WHO at global and regional level) and advocate at global, regional and local levels to monitor Global Fund activities and help ensure that the needs of MSM are addressed appropriately. - participate in major strategic processes, such as Global Fund-led Partnership Forums; Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) advisory group; Community Mobilization consultations, and input gathering from MSM advocates and service providers to present to Global Fund decision makers. - supplement these efforts with frequent communiqués and information notes to our advocacy network, to support meaningful grassroots engagement by MSM and other key populations with the Global Fund. -engage in extensive efforts to impact PEPFAR funding and program focus such as disseminating multiple community updates to our global network on the PEPFAR COP process, supporting advocates to organize into task force at country level and to inform and gather inputs with MSM and LGBTI advocates, and meeting with OGAC to suggest processes, programmatic and funding revisions to increase transparency and civil society engagement in the COP processes.
