IATI Identifier:
Tafakkar, which means ‘Think’ in Arabic, builds on the success and incorporates lessons learned from the pilot Esma’ni (‘Listen to Me’) programme. Youth beneficiaries from underserved areas in Ma’an and Karak will participate in Tafakkar and develop skills through the comprehensive, experiential training programme. After the capacity-building component, participants will be assisted and mentored to implement online and offline media and community initiatives that will strengthen their sense of belonging and agency, pride in their heritage, and 21st century skills and ability to engage positively for the betterment of their communities. The training consists of modules in active citizenship, critical thinking, media and information literacy or ‘Learn to Discern’ (L2D), and ideation design. The programme will hold small-group ideation workshops where participants identify and develop their project ideas. The training programme will culminate in a ‘Souq Al Afkar’ (Ideas Marketplace), an event to showcase participants’ plans for their media and cultural heritage projects. Tafakkar will then support production of media projects and implementation of community initiatives over a period of three months.
