Empowering Africa’s young people with decent, quality jobs is critical to achieving just, green and inclusive societies. This is why Acumen East and West Africa are partnering with the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE), funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between 2022-25 to find and invest in youth-inclusive business models under our Inclusive Work Initiative (IWI). Under the initiative, Acumen aims to cultivate, scale and invest in 20 inclusive businesses that are targeting the creation and improvement of 15,000 jobs for African youth , with 50% targeted for women. For all investments in East and West Africa between 2022-25, Acumen will apply a youth employment lens to track the number of youth (under the age of 35) employed by our companies. We will also offer targeted technical assistance to support these businesses to hire and retain more youth employees.
