Launched in 2019, the Life and Building Safety (LABS) Initiative is a collaborative effort to drive the apparel and footwear industry towards safer working conditions at the members’ brands’ suppliers, with the intention to embed best practices into local legislation and protocols. LABS is a separate legal entity, where IDH act as the program secretariat, convening a strong coalition of global brands, key industry stakeholders, and decision-makers, including the private sector, governments, and civil society, to unlock resources and work towards preventing and mitigating fire, electrical, and structural risks in the apparel and footwear industry.
