The Going for Gold Programme (GfG) consortium, comprised of Simavi, Solidaridad and Healthy Entrepreneurs (HE), is an innovative programme that takes a bottom up empowerment, health interventions and improved mining practices to create an enabling environment for women’s economic empowerment. The Programme integrates improvements in working conditions and standards in artisanal and small scale gold mines (ASGM) along-side a health and empowerment focus to address practical and strategic barriers to women’s economic empowerment in ASM in Geita region in Tanzania.
