Local Employment in Africa for Development (Phase 1)

The first objective of the programme is to create sustainable youth employment in growth sectors with special attention to young women, through existing (70%) and new entrepreneurs (30%) with coaching, training and facilitating access to finance and markets. Second objective: To promote entrepreneurship among young people by integrating entrepreneurship education in secondary and higher education. A small part of this is for the training of teachers, but again this is part of a broader package primarily aimed at the teaching module development. The programme focuses on the following sectors in which economic growth potential has been identified to be further strengthened through the value chain and market analyses: Tunisia: agriculture, food processing, sustainable tourism; Libya: renewable energy, services related to the oil industry, fisheries; Somalia: renewable energy, livestock, agriculture, fisheries and food processing industries.
