  • autorenew Implementation (Status)

In Afghanistan, current needs are driven by multidimensional factors of drought, climate change, economic crisis and protection threats – particularly for women and girls. Additionally, conflict, natural disasters, the lingering effects of war, and recent large-scale conflict displacement continue to prevent people from building resilience and moving towards recovery and solutions. SCI’s response priority is to maintain and expand access to life saving and sustaining health services and information at community and primary health care levels through static health facilities; ensure more effective referral systems and support the H&N delivery system to deliver quality services integrated with Child Protection (CP), MHPSS and WASH. The overall goal of this program is to contribute to reduced morbidity and mortality among the most-affected population, especially children under the age of five years and pregnant and lactating women. The expected project impact is to improve access and utilization of integrated, gender and age sensitive health, nutrition, and WASH services among vulnerable households and crisis-affected communities. To reach impact, life-saving humanitarian health & nutrition interventions are integrated with child protection, MHPSS and WASH and provided to acutely food insecure populations with very limited access to H&N services. Crisis-affected HH will be able to meet basic needs, avoid preventable diseases and malnutrition and avoid the adoption of negative coping strategies.
