The earthquake, subsequent aftershocks and tsunami in Sulawesi have led to at least 1,407 casualties, 1,177 injuries and over 70,821 people reported displaced, spread across 141 evacuation sites (BNPB, 3 October). According to the BNPB (1 October), AHA Centre (3 October), WHO (30 September) and OCHA (1 October), the immediate needs are water, food and shelter, which is why Save the Children (SC) implements a comprehensive WASH response. Save the Children implements a WASH programme as part of our wider multi-sectoral response in Palu, which is one of the most affected and hard to reach areas.
