CARE aims to reach 13,150 people through integrated nutrition, FSL, and protection response, for the most vulnerable IDPs and HCs in Ngala and Jere LGA. This project is informed by CARE and EYN's extensive experience in Nigeria, CARE’s Rapid Gender Analysis, Rapid response report, and the latest flash report; it aligns with the Borno state prioritized interventions and builds on collaboration and coordination with the humanitarian actors, government, and UN agencies. The first phase of the food assistance will focus on providing two hot meals (wet feeding) per day for 10 days to 6,000 people in camps to provide the caloric and nutritional needs of families that have lost assets and have no access to utensils or facilities to prepare their meals. In the second phase, the response will target families in flood-affected areas through participatory targeting in coordination with other partners in the target locations to prevent double dipping, promote inclusivity, and ensure assistance reaches the appropriate deserving participants based on vulnerability. CARE will prioritize PLWG, PWD, adolescent girls and young mothers, Infant and Young Children (IYC), and women, girls, men, and boys at risk and survivors of SGBV who require urgent assistance. The protection component of this project will establish and deliver an integrated and well-coordinated survivor-centered protection response, focusing on the areas of case management, GBV awareness, and psychosocial support. Services in the WGSS will also include information sharing on available services in the IDP camps for all humanitarian response sectors. Given the nature of the context where women’s mobility is severely restricted, this project will focus on the establishment of women and girls’ safe spaces in safe and accessible locations where case management and psychosocial support will be delivered through community-based mechanisms, including raising awareness and engaging gatekeepers around GBV.
