Mitigating the impact of El Niño in Darfur & Emergency Assistance Floods in Kassala State

The strong El Niño event of 2015-6 has substantially disturbed rainfall patterns in large parts of Sudan and surrounding countries. In response to this situation, members of the Aqua4Darfur Partnership (ZOA, IAS, Practical Action and SOS Sahel) propose to intervene with the objective of mitigating the effects of the 2015 El Niño phenomenon, and contributing to post-drought recovery of cultivation and grazing lands. Flooding and heavy rains in Kassala state caused substantial damage in the area. Plan International Sudan and Practical Action will focus on addressing the life-saving needs of vulnerable affected people through a 6 month holistic WASH intervention
