AFCA is proposing to work with partners to create a National Coffee Platform in Kenya. The ultimate purpose of the platform is to increase coffee production and quality and improve business environment through stakeholders’ participation in inclusive and participatory National and County level coffee platforms that represents all coffee stakeholders and allow free discussion on critical issues. The objective of the National Coffee Platform would be to bring the value chain actors and stakeholders together to deliberate on critical issues and develop a common approaches to address such issues. Such a forum would be used by the actors to effectively influence policy change and promote provision of innovative quality service for male, female and young (small and medium) farmers within the value chain. It would also participate in setting the national coffee agenda, lobby on behalf of stakeholders, monitor and track progress on national goals and plans. To achieve this, there is need to have buy-in, support and coordination of all stakeholders involved in the coffee value chain both at the national level and county level.
