IATI Identifier:
The Global Coffee Platform (GCP) as an inclusive multi-stakeholder sustainability platform for the global coffee sector, aims at supporting the SP program's coffee component through sector-wide approaches on national levels in up to five coffee growing countries, namely Indonesia, Honduras, Kenya, Nicaragua and Uganda. The Sustainable Coffee Platform of Indonesia (SCOPI) has been established and registered in 2015. Being relatively young, the national platform will need to be strengthened in terms of effectiveness, representation and active engagement of farmer groups and CSOs as well as outreach. Apart from SCOPI empowerment, important pillars for the GCP 2017 plan are the roll-out of the Robusta NSC and the benchmarking of the Indonesian Sustainable Coffee Standard (ISCoffee) with the Baseline Common Code. Extended activities will be: 1) The development and roll-out of an NSC for Arabica, 2) Extending the SCOPI empowerment, e.g. through further support to its working group on effective farmer organization; 3) An extension of the standards alignment process with ISCoffee, and; 4) The development and roll-out of a gender-sensitive training module on economic sustainability improvement and financial literacy.
