Global Coffee Platform Institutional Support - Honduras

The Global Coffee Platform (GCP) as an inclusive multi-stakeholder sustainability platform for the global coffee sector, aims at supporting the SP program's coffee component through sector-wide approaches on national levels in up to five coffee growing countries, namely Indonesia, Honduras, Kenya, Nicaragua and Uganda. In Honduras, the GCP will set up a National coffee platform, based on a needs assessment and the elaboration of a national strategic plan. Additionally, this project seeks: 1) a deeper and broader engagement with national stakeholders; 2) the development of an NSC, incorporating cross-cutting issues like climate change adaptation, gender, living wage, where agreed with national stakeholders; 3) A testing and adaptation of indicators for gender inclusion in the Honduran coffee sector in collaboration with the Coffee Quality Institute and the Honducafé Foundation and; 4) The co-development and implementation of a farmer-centric initiative to increase productivity of smallholder households and implement food security practices, in collaboration with HEIFER international.
