In response to climate change, CAFENICA and CIAT have been setting up an early warning system with its member organizations i.e. establishing a network of weather stations in coffee producing regions. This project aims at reducing the impacts of climate variability on small scale coffee producers and their families by strengthening the functioning of the so-called early warning system. In doing so, CAFENICA formulated three outcomes: 1) Piloting and up-scaling improved information and tools to address climate variability; 2) Facilitating collective learning for climate change resilient approaches, actions and policies; 3) Advocating for climate change resilient coffee initiatives and policies from local and national frameworks and value chain players. In order to achieve these outcomes, CAFENICA-CIAT will work on capacity building and lobby and advocacy with its member organizations, technical staff and promoter's network.
