The Malawi 2020 Tea Revitalization Project has the objective of improving wages in the tea industry of Malawi with the goal of achieving a living wage in a competitive and profitable Malawi tea industry by the year 2020. A wages committee was established as a technical body under the evaluation committee of the programme to assess level of wages and determine the living wage target. The wages committee is to 1) develop a wage monitoring process so that progress toward payment of a living wage can be monitored; and 2) measure wages to 2020.
