Support to Implementation of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 (SIBDP2100).

The main aim of the SIBDP2100 project is to prepare and support the implementation of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 by providing Policy Advice (including institutional development, funding strategy, river basin wise implementation programming) and Capacity Building (including communication and stakeholder participation, training, information and knowledge management). The Bangladesh Delta Plan (BDP) 2100 focuses primarily on adaptation to climate change and on foodsecurity and economic development. The BDP2100 provides a long term vision, goals and strategies, an institutional framework and investment plan. It was formulated from 2014-2018 in a multi sectoral way by the General Economics Division, Planning Commision of the Ministry of Planning, supported by an international consortium led by Dutch consultancy firm Twynstra Gudde Holding B.V. The project was funded by the Government of the Netherlands. BDP2100 was approved by the National Economic Council (NEC), presided over by the Prime Minister and Chairperson of the NEC, on 4 September 2018. Bangladesh is the first country in the world to develop such a comprehensive multi-sectoral plan including an investment plan for the entire delta, using Adaptive Delta Management. The Government has assigned the General Economics Division (GED) the responsibility of the overall coordination, facilitation and monitoring of the BDP 2100 implementation. The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has extended the financial support to operationalize BDP2100 in a TA project, entitled "Support to the Implementation of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 (SIBDP2100)". A team of consultants of the SIBDP consortium with lead partner Twynstra Gudde Holding B.V. has been engaged to support GED in its tasks of initiating and coordinating BDP2100 implementation with other ministries and implementing agencies, with effect from 1 October 2018. The consortium consists, besides Twynstra Gudde Holding B.V., of Deltares and Euroconsult Mott MacDonald and sub-contractors Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) , Climate Adaptation Foundation (CAS).
