Nepal has been struggling to minimize the loss of lives and livelihood caused by the second wave of COVID 19. From Mid-April, the no. of new cases started to rise at a very alarming rate and this has continued to this day. The daily cases of Nepal during the months of April-May were fluctuating between 8-9000 per day, with around 40% positivity, and the daily deaths around 150-200 every day. The poorly equipped health systems and infrastructure in the country is already overwhelmed and the Government has called for international support. The no. of new cases and death could actually be much higher according to experts since there is limited testing, contract tracing or isolating the infected people.
