The Responsible Gold Agreement is a multi-stakeholder initiative in which jewellers, goldsmiths, recyclers, NGOs, electronics companies, and the government are cooperating. The aim is to ensure respect for human rights and the environment throughout the entire value chain. The process is faciliated by the Dutch Social and Economic Council. Companies joining the Gold Agreement are expected to conduct due diligence in line with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the United Nations Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). The Agreement covers the entire supply chain of gold, from extraction to recycling. More information can be found on www.imvoconvenanten.nl/en/gold.
