The SER facilitates sector agreements on international responsible business conduct, based on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Corporations and the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights. Agreements have been established in the following sectors: garments and textiles, banking, gold, natural stone, food products, insurance, pension funds, metals and floriculture. The SER also supports parties in the implementation of these agreements, with the exception of floriculture where the support is integrated with the floriculture sustainability initiative (FSI) and supported by IDH. All sector agreements are a combination of due diligence commitments and projects to jointly address specific risks in the supply chain such as the prevention of child labour or strengthening labour rights. Parties to the agreements are sector associations and companies, unions, NGOs and government. The idea is to join forces in order to learn from each other and to increase leverage aimed at making international supply chains more sustainable and thereby contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
