TradeMark Africa's Zimbabwe Programme works to position Zimbabwe as an efficient regional transit hub along the Beira Corridor, the primary trade route linking the landlocked economy to the Port of Beira in Mozambique and onward to regional and global markets, through a focused set of trade facilitation interventions launched in 2025. The Programme's most significant early milestone is the establishment of the Joint Border Committee at the Forbes–Machipanda border post, formalising coordinated border management between Zimbabwe and Mozambique and providing a structured platform for eliminating administrative delays, complex procedures, and other non-tariff barriers that inflate trade costs along the corridor. Complementing this, the Programme supports the operationalisation of Simplified Trade Regimes to lower barriers for small-scale traders, with a deliberate focus on women cross-border traders navigating formal trade systems, and provides technical assistance for alignment of Zimbabwe's national trade policies with AfCFTA commitments and SADC protocols to strengthen the country's competitiveness within the regional trading architecture.
