The Mombasa Port Resilient Infrastructure Programme (MRIP) being implemented at the Port of Mombasa in Kenya consist a mix of hard and soft infrastructure related interventions aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency at the Port of Mombasa. The specific interventions include: Organizational and Restructuring of Environment Department; Rehabilitation of the Conveyor System to Reduce Dust and Cargo Wastage from Soda Ash (Sodium Bicarbonate) Handling; Mitigating Business Continuity / Labour Productivity; Developing a Strategy to Facilitate Green logistics, and Catalysing the Modal Shift from Road to Rail Freight; Replacement of Asbestos Roofing materials with Galvanized Roofing sheets in KPA Workshops; Tree Planting and Forestry; Securing Port Water Supply and Sanitation; Feasibility Study on Port and Ship Waste Management at the Port of Mombasa; Bio-Terra Phasing of Hill Sides at the Port of Mombasa; Capacity building amongst KPA Employees and Other Stakeholders on Environmental Management and Gender Audit; Aacquisition of Eco Hoppers and Mobile harbour Cranes; and Improvement of Energy Efficiency & Development of Renewable Energy Power sources at the Port of Mombasa. These interventions will reduce costs to the Authority and Port users, improve labour productivity, minimize accidents, improve health and safety of the workforce, and enhance environmental quality for the Port and its surroundings.;Reduced Barriers to Trade
