High quality research leadership in social sciences and humanities research, underpinned by efficient research ecosystems will play a fundamental role in addressing Africa’s sustainable developmental challenges. This proposed programme of the African Academy of Sciences (The AAS) builds on the Developing Excellence in Leadership Training and Science in Africa (DELTAS Africa) programme and integrates key new components informed by The AAS’s initiatives in research management and open access publishing, as well as community and public engagement, mentorship and grantsmanship, to strengthen social sciences and humanities research leadership and social science and humanities research ecosystems in Africa.
