This project aims to work with women survivors (and civil society organizations that want to support them) to develop and strengthen survivor support groups to become powerful forces of psychosocial support, advocacy, and change in their communities. AJAR’s goal is to promote psychosocial support and other rights of women survivors of human rights violations as a critical part of building sustainable peace, security, and a human rights culture in Myanmar. We will pursue this goal by working with these women survivors towards three key objectives. AJAR will: 1. Increase the knowledge and capacity of women survivors of human rights violations to recognize and reclaim their rights, and facilitate healing in their communities; 2. Build solidarity among women survivors and human rights defenders from different ethnic and religious backgrounds in order to lay the foundations for collective healing and advocacy for peace, human rights and justice; and 3. Strengthen women survivors to initiate and lead advocacy and awareness-raising efforts that promote healing, peace, and human rights for women survivors from all ethnic and religious groups in Myanmar.
