As the Short Term Consultant for DFID’s Catalytic Jobs Fund, Mercy Corps will build on our experience driving job creation and private sector growth across Africa to facilitate market-driven employment opportunities for young and vulnerable people in urban and ASAL regions of Kenya. Our approach as Short Term Consultant, will draw on our existing pipelines, systems, team members and network as found in Mercy Corps’ Google-funded Social Impact Lab Programme, in addition to our regional and global experience as fund managers. Further, Mercy Corps will leverage our demonstrated experience in both urban and rural areas to tackle the barriers to firm entry and growth which limit the generation of jobs that are suitable for Kenya’s burgeoning youth population. Employing a market-oriented strategy, our team will build on an existing pipeline of opportunities, identify additional key market opportunities, pilot and measure the impact of innovative job creation approaches and position the Catalytic Jobs Fund for success in Phase III.
