The UK Hydrographic office has recruited posts specifically dedicated to international capacity building. The posts are concerned with the organisation of technical visits and training courses/workshops in the Caribbean, North Indian Ocean and Southern Africa. They also are involved in the development of a hydrographic survey project in the Eastern Caribbean. The spend also covers activities carried out in support of ODA countries where the UK Hydrographic office is the primary charting authority, support of Commonwealth small island developing states, the humanitarian aid disaster response to the Vanuatu typhoon, and the establishment of a maritime search and rescue capability in St Helena.
