The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team has been established with the purpose to research and investigate possible or known disease outbreaks in Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligible countries and to help control such threats before they might become a national or international health emergency. The project has the primary purpose of ensuring that the United Kingdom has a standing capacity of multidisciplinary public health professionals and researchers that can be ready to deploy within 48 hours to a possible or known disease outbreak in a country that is eligible for ODA, as defined by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
