Since January 2017, on behalf of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tunis, our team of experts has supported the Tunisian government in creating a community-police partnership approach to countering violent extremism (CVE).The so-called ‘Jendouba Model’ comprises: 1. Tunis- and Jendouba governorate-level strategic engagement with policymakers 2. In partner municipalities, a referral mechanism and case management system for ‘at risk’ individuals, accompanied by broader safeguarding work and community engagement (led by teams of community police liaison officers and youth mentors) 3. Robust programme management and research, monitoring and evaluation (RME) systems, which enable us to operate safely in Jendouba governorate, track progress, learn and adapt to changing conditions and needs on the ground.
