DFID commissioned this study to determine how to improve food safety standards in domestic markets and to support value chain actors to improve food safety which it is hoped will result in increased incomes for smallholder farmers through inclusion in higher value markets. The report aims to increase the understanding of DFID as to how consider food safety in design/and or delivery in its programmes, and highlight opportunities for future interventions.
