This project, building upon previous successes, will replicate and scale an effective intervention to tackle systemic drivers of plastic pollution on St Helena and Ascension. With limited land and resources, remote islands such as St Helena and Ascension rely on waste disposal into landfill and/or incineration, the majority of which is single-use plastic (SUP). This project will create conditions for island stakeholders to reduce SUP use, improve associated waste management efficiency, and contribute to marine conservation, benefiting the ocean and key wildlife species by 2025.
