Better Assistance in Crises (BASIC) Research aims to inform policy and programming on how to help poor and vulnerable people cope better with crises and meet their basic needs through more effective social assistance in contexts of recurrent shocks, climate crises, humanitarian crises, protracted conflict and forced displacement. Focussing on four key conflict or crises affected countries, BASIC Research will concentrate on climate resilience, value for money, and effective and efficient delivery and governance of social assistance programmes. Inclusion – with a particular focus on gender, age and disability – is a cross-cutting concern
