The International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) is a global policy research network, devoted to improving the quality of tax policy and administration in developing countries, with a special focus on sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to contribute to development through the mobilisation of knowledge that will help make taxation policies more conducive to pro-poor economic growth and good governance.The ICTD was formally established on 15 November 2010, by a consortium of organisations and individuals with an interest in tax and development issues. The ICTD was initially funded by a five-year grant from the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) and additional funding from NORAD, which ran until March 2016. We are currently funded by DFID and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
