EU Early Recovery YOBE

The action will strengthen Yobe State government and community capacity to build households’ and communities’ resilience to recurrent shocks (conflict and its negative effects) through delivering the following results: (i) up to 10,000 conflict affected and vulnerable households receive financial support to access food and basic needs each year through a new state-led pilot safety nets/ social protection programme; (ii) public administration capacity strengthened to deliver the pilot programme, youth-focused social protection programmes beyond the life of award and to develop a State Social Protection Policy; (iii) basic services that will complement the cash transfer programme (in health, nutrition and education) strengthened; (iv) up to 8,000 women and youth are provided with skills linked to diversification of incomes and market opportunities; (v) up to 8,700 vulnerable and displaced households supported with training, inputs and other support to restart agricultural livelihoods and businesses; and (vi) multi-stakeholder dialogue strengthened for increasing state legitimacy, responsiveness, transparency and accountability to Yobe citizens to build cohesive resilient societies, that are able to prevent and resolve conflict, while addressing some of the underlying drivers of violent extremism in Nigeria.
