International Alert is proposing to build an essential body of evidence aligned to the priority area, financing for stability. The research will explore how development programming in two of the following focus areas: economic development, climate and governance (to be finalised with the Project Lead) are addressing underlying drivers of conflict in fragile and conflict-affected state (FCAS) settings. The research will provide evidence, clear recommendations and guidance that will assist the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), together with other donors, implementing partners and civil society, to leverage aid financing for peace outcomes. This will be available to be used by the FCDO throughout the implementation of the forthcoming cross-government conflict strategy and aid strategy as well as contribute evidence to the potential update of the FCDO’s Building Stability Framework. This will support programming to make the necessary adjustments to maximise their impact on stability and security.
