Alert’s proposed activities will improve women’s empowerment, indigenous access to forest resources and improve conservation outcomes by mobilising customary practices for environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods. This comes at a crucial time, with the recently re-elected government convening in early 2021 to set priorities and workplans for the peace process and policy objectives for their next parliament. We will begin re-engaging with key stakeholders in Myanmar and to lobby for buy-in from government actors and civil society partners. This also requires updating respective conflict analyses to deepen understanding of key issues to be addressed and possible engagement strategies.
