Established citizen-state forums across the regions of Segou, Mopti and Timbuktu, composed of local leaders and activists from all sectors of the community, provide opportunities for citizens to meet monthly to identify and discuss incidents and trends of intra and inter communal violence, as well abuses from security forces, armed groups and criminal opportunists. Through inclusive dialogue, supported by training in gender sensitive conflict analysis and responses, forum members are supported to identify, develop and deliver locally owned responses to reduce security risks in their localities. In addition, representatives of national security forces are invited to attend the forums, where possible, to participate in dialogue with the local community where they are based.
