Living with Dignity local decision making among Non-State Actors for sustainable decentralized pasture management in Murghab.

Together with Cesvi and three Tajik NGO partners (ATO, Farodis and WoO), Alert is seeking funding to implement an innovative intervention to address VAWG in Tajikistan and contribute to its prevention. VAWG levels in the country are in fact staggering, with one third to one half of women in Tajikistan regularly subjected to physical, psychological or sexual violence and widespread domestic violence and sexual abuse. For this reason, our intervention seeks to focus on VAWG prevention and tackle three main risk factors: 1) women are socio-economically marginalized and disempowered; 2) community institutions are not effectively engaged to address the problem; and 3) Tajik social norms and stereotypes prescribe an aggressive role to men and a submissive one to women, which contribute to a violence-condoning environment.
