South Asia WASH Results Programme (Bangladesh)

The programme will operate in Pakistan and Bangladesh, two countries where very high numbers of poor people do not use improved sanitation. The objective will be to promote and enable the sustained use of hygienic household toilets, and the practice of hand washing with soap, by 1,644,175 men, women and children in poor rural communities within 12 districts of Pakistan and 12 of Bangladesh. In support of this the programme will also: - make water supply improvements in a limited number of communities (for 10% of total beneficiaries) that face acute water supply problems; and - implement an intensive hand washing campaign in primary schools using Unilever’s proven ‘School of 5’ Approach, reaching 4,750,000 students across 57 districts.
