Youth for Change is inherently youth led, and will work with young people as agents and advocates for positive change relating to GBV, including FGM and CEFM, in their local contexts. YFC will help young women and men to build an understanding of both the causes and consequences of GBV and widerrights in relation to GBV. Further to this, YFC members works with decision makers to affect institutional change, which requires that they are sufficiently empowered, and have the necessary skills to be effective agents and advocates in each operational context. To be effective advocates young people must have meaningful access to and representation in spaces of influence with local and national governing bodies. In addition to be effective agents of change young people must have access to communities to address the issue of GBV. YFC therefore upholds an enabling model for young people to be able to address the problem of GBV effectively as both agents and advocates of change.
