The Power of Nutrition is contributing $10.4m to this $60.4m, 4-year programme in partnership with the World Bank and the Government of Cote d’Ivoire, which is supporting the implementation of the country’s Multisectoral Plan for Nutrition. The programme is financing improvements to nutrition service delivery whilst also supporting community mobilisation for nutrition positive actions such as appropriate infant and young child feeding practices, community-based management of acute malnutrition and childhood illness, and diet diversification. This programme will use innovative financing and management mechanisms to incentivise communities and public service providers to build linkages and work together to accelerate nutrition gains. This strategy can be summarised as one of simultaneous convergence and decentralisation, through which traditionally siloed sectors will converge around an overarching, multisectoral strategy, while the implementation of nutrition-specific and -sensitive activities will be decentralised to give community-level actors the autonomy and flexibility to design context-appropriate subprojects to improve nutrition.
