The Power of Nutrition is contributing $20m into a $44m investment in reducing child undernutrition in Tanzania, which is bringing micronutrient supplements, nutrition education, and improved basic health services to 20 million children and 5 million mothers by 2020. By using a programme for results model, funds are only disbursed if health facilities and local government authorities meet certain pre-defined objectives. This particular kind of financing instrument incentivises performance at all levels of the health system against nutrition indicators. This $44m programme is part of a wider health care programme totalling $306m in Tanzania.
